Nunga Screen is hitting its 15th year, dishing up First Nations stories through film that pack a punch on culture, language and creativity. Its timed nicely between Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week, with free events pulling in crowds of all ages for yarns about history, laughs, community and ties to Country. This lineup mixes shorts from up-and-coming and seasoned mob across Australia, like the cheeky high-speed romps of Red Dirt Riders, the softly hilarious Fix-It-Man and Fix-It Wooman, and a fun music clip team-up from Dem Mob and Fregon Anangu School, perfect for family viewing without the yawns.
You will also catch heartfelt docs such as Anangu Way, where a dad and son patch things up via culture on Country, and Blakprint for Success, chatting education, identity and Kaurna smarts for the next lot. Dramas like Catchin Mumoo, The Secret and False Narrative dig into family knots, truth and mending with real gut-punch feels. Its all about soaking in those voices, open to everyone from kids to elders, put on by Country Arts SA at Hopgood Theatre in Noarlunga Centre. They have a 60-minute family cut and a full 90-minute version. Hopgood Theatre Ramsay Place, Noarlunga Centre, SA 5168, on May 27, 2026.
