Adelaide audiences are being invited to "consider themselves at home" this June as the Marie Clark Musical Theatre (MCMT) brings the beloved classic Oliver! to The Arts Theatre - powered entirely by volunteers and not-for-profit passion.

Based on Charles Dickens' timeless novel Oliver Twist, this Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical arrives in Adelaide this June, celebrating one of the most iconic and enduring works in musical theatre. With its beloved score and unforgettable characters, Oliver! is set to enchant devoted fans and win over first-time audiences alike, before the final curtain falls.



MCMT is a proudly not-for-profit musical theatre group, run by volunteers who generously donate their time, skills and energy to ensure quality theatre remains accessible for local audiences to enjoy and local performers to take part in. It has been almost 20 years since MCMT last brought Oliver! to the stage. This new production features a cast of 44 local performers (including 20 Youth Cast members aged 8 to 16), showcasing the depth of talent within Adelaide's community theatre scene.

Set on the streets of Victorian London, Oliver! follows a spirited orphan who escapes the grim confines of a workhouse only to fall in with a colourful band of pickpockets led by the enigmatic Fagin. Along the way, he strikes up a friendship with the mischievous and confident Artful Dodger, as well as encounters the menacing Bill Sikes, the compassionate Nancy, and the kindly Mr Brownlow, who offers him a glimpse of the family love he has always longed for.

With book, music and lyrics by Lionel Bart, Oliver! has long been hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece. The show overflows with iconic musical numbers including 'Food, Glorious Food,' 'Consider Yourself,' 'You’ve Got to Pick a Pocket or Two' and 'As Long As He Needs Me.' MCMT's new production promises plenty of heart and humour, catchy tunes, and high-energy dance numbers that audiences of all ages can enjoy.



The company's two alternating youth casts - the Bart Youth Cast and the Dickens Youth Cast - give even more young Adelaide performers the opportunity to take part in a large-scale musical, performing alongside a highly talented adult cast who truly exemplify the high-calibre of Adelaide's performers.

All performances of Oliver! will be held at The Arts Theatre, 53 Angas Street, Adelaide, from 19–27 June 2026, with eight shows only:
• Friday 19 June - 7.30pm (feat. Bart Youth Cast)
• Saturday 20 June - 1.30pm (feat. Dickens Youth Cast)
• Saturday 20 June - 7.30pm (feat. Bart Youth Cast)
• Sunday 21 June - 3.00pm (feat. Dickens Youth Cast – Sid Ion as Oliver Twist)
• Thursday 25 June - 7.30pm (feat. Bart Youth Cast)
• Friday 26 June - 7.30pm (feat. Dickens Youth Cast)
• Saturday 27 June - 1.30pm (feat. Bart Youth Cast – Patrick Green as Oliver Twist)
• Saturday 27 June - 7.30pm (feat. Dickens Youth Cast)
