Make Music Day is a FREE, inclusive, city-wide festival as part of the global Fete de la Musique and celebrates Adelaide as Australia’s only UNESCO City of Music. Adelaide is Australia’s first and only UNESCO City of Music. This recognition celebrates the city’s dynamic musical identity, shaped by its rich artistic heritage, internationally acclaimed festivals, and active live music scene. Music is integral to Adelaide’s unique culture and heritage and its standing on the global stage. Since 2015, Adelaide has been proudly part of this global network of over 400 creative cities that celebrate, prioritise and leverage culture for sustainable development.

For one day only on Saturday, 20 June 2026, 40 venues across the Adelaide CBD and North Adelaide will open their doors for a full day of live music - from relaxed daytime coffee sets to late-night performances to celebrate 2026 Make Music Day. Building on the success of 2025, this year’s program brings together iconic venues and unexpected spaces, with more than 360 diverse artists across 107 acts representing a wide range of musical genres, cultures and local scenes, transforming cafes, bars, galleries, bookstores and public spaces into live stages and dance floors.
