Queen of Wands Psychic Fair at Tonsley | A Unique South Australian Market Experience
There is something wonderfully refreshing about stumbling across an event that feels a little different.
A fresh coffee in hand, live music drifting through the air, colourful market stalls, friendly faces and plenty of curiosity led me to spend part of my Sunday wandering through the Queen of Wands Psychic Fair at the Tonsley Innovation District.
What began as a single spiritual market has evolved into one of South Australia's most unique travelling community events. Now celebrating its 19th venue, Queen of Wands continues to bring together a diverse mix of readers, healers, artists, creators, musicians and small businesses from across the state.
This latest event at Tonsley welcomed more than 80 South Australian businesses, including over 20 first-time stallholders. Visitors could browse everything from crystals and candles to handmade jewellery, artwork, clothing, tarot decks, spiritual tools and unique gifts.
For those interested in holistic wellbeing and personal development, there were opportunities to experience tarot readings, psychic guidance, mediumship, astrology, palm reading, iridology, sound healing and a variety of alternative wellness services.
One of the things that makes Queen of Wands stand out is its welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're deeply immersed in spirituality, curious about alternative practices, interested in supporting local makers, or simply looking for a different day out, the event creates a space where everyone feels comfortable exploring at their own pace.
Adding to the festival atmosphere was live music throughout the day, with performances by Santiago Costas and Kim Patra, while food trucks, coffee vendors, desserts, face painting, henna artists and balloon creations provided entertainment for all ages.
The venue itself proved an excellent choice. The Tonsley Innovation District offers ample space, easy access, free parking and a relaxed environment that allows visitors to wander comfortably between stalls and exhibitions.
What impressed me most was the sense of community. Behind every stall was a passionate small business owner, artist or practitioner sharing their craft, knowledge and story. In an age where online shopping dominates, events like Queen of Wands provide a valuable opportunity to connect directly with local creators and support South Australian businesses.
Over the years, Queen of Wands has travelled through communities including McLaren Vale, Clare, Victor Harbor, Brighton, Woodside, Wallaroo, Robe, Port Noarlunga, Thebarton and many others, building a loyal following along the way.
For those seeking something a little different from the usual weekend markets, Queen of Wands offers an intriguing blend of creativity, spirituality, entertainment and community spirit.
Whether you leave with a crystal, a reading, a handmade treasure or simply a good coffee and a few interesting conversations, chances are you'll discover something unexpected along the way.
