Named Australia's Best Boutique Hotel - 2025 HM Awards Official

Adelaide's luxury Art Nouveau hotel, The Playford, has officially been crowned Australia 2019s Best Boutique Hotel at the 2025 HM Awards, securing one of the most competitive and prestigious hospitality honours in the country.

The win was confirmed on the official HM Awards winners list, which recognises the top performers across accommodation, dining, and hotel management throughout Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

For many in Adelaide, the award validates what guests have long known. The Playford is one of the state's most beautifully curated stays, blending expressive design, warm service, and a storytelling-led luxury experience that stands apart in the market.

As part of Accor's MGallery Hotel Collection, The Playford showcases a romantic reinterpretation of the Art Nouveau movement, weaving together sculptural staircases, handcrafted lighting, bold textures and intimate spaces that echo the grandeur of early 20th-century salons and winter gardens. On a personal note, The Playford has always held a special place in my heart. It's been my favourite boutique hotel in Adelaide for years. I stayed in one of the beautiful loft suites back in 2018, and between 2022 and 2023, my son worked his very first front-of-house role there on the breakfast shift, a milestone we both still look back on fondly. I've attended awards nights in the ballroom, spent long evenings soaking up its atmosphere, and I've always loved slipping away for a swim in the indoor pool. It really is one of Adelaide's most decadent and thoughtfully curated hotels, and seeing it recognised nationally feels wonderfully fitting.
